Where it goes
There is no company here. A subscription covers the running costs first, and what is left buys the evenings that turn into features.
Hosting and the database
The servers Echelon runs on, and the Postgres database holding every campaign, roster and Crusade Card. This is the bill that arrives whether anyone plays or not.
Images and backups
Storage for avatars, banners and unit photos, plus the backups that mean a bad afternoon does not cost you a campaign you spent a year on.
The evenings
Everything left over buys development time. Echelon is built by one person around a full-time job, so this is the part that decides how fast anything gets fixed or added.
No paywall, no guilt
The free tier is not a trial and it does not expire. You can run a campaign for your group, track every Crusade Card, and score battles at the table without paying anything. Upgrade when the caps start getting in your way, and not before.
Money is not the only way to help
Reporting a bug, telling me a rule is wrong, or getting your group to try it are all genuinely useful, and they cost nothing. The Discord is where all three land fastest.
I'm David. I build Echelon on my own, in the evenings, around a full-time job and my own Crusade campaigns. If it has saved you an argument about whose Redemptor has how much XP, a coffee is a good way to say so.
You do not need an account, and it does not unlock anything. The plans above are where the features live. What it does get you, if you are signed in when you buy one, is a Donor badge on your profile and the Supporter role in Discord. A coffee is a gift rather than a purchase, so it is not refundable.
FAQ
Yes. Stripe handles all billing, and Echelon never sees or stores your card details. Stripe is certified PCI DSS Level 1, which is the strictest level in payments.
They stay. Avatars, roster banners and unit photos you have already uploaded remain stored and visible in your campaigns. You just cannot upload new ones, or go past the free tier's limits, until you resubscribe.
Yes. Both Supporter and Commander memberships auto-renew, monthly or annually, whichever you chose. You can manage, pause or cancel renewal at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal.
You can host 1 active campaign at a time, and join as many campaigns as you like as a player. There is no limit on the joining side. Completed campaigns move to your archive after 7 days (30 for Supporter, and Commander never auto-archives) and stay there permanently, read-only. Nothing is ever deleted.
14 days, no questions asked, on a Supporter or Commander payment, first one or any renewal. Message me on Discord or by email and I'll process it straight away. Your account reverts to the Free tier the moment it goes through. You can also just cancel instead, and keep the plan until the period you've paid for ends. Coffees work differently: they're a gift rather than a purchase, they buy no features, and they aren't refundable. The full Refund Policy has the detail.

I'm David. I built Echelon because my gaming group kept losing Crusade campaigns to the spreadsheet meant to be tracking them. Someone always had the wrong version, XP was always slightly wrong, and the host spent more of the evening on admin than on the game.
Echelon is entirely self-funded, with no investors and no company behind it. If you subscribe, you are paying the bills listed above and buying me the evenings to keep building. Thank you.
