Glossary of Terms
A quick-reference directory for key terms, acronyms, and concepts used throughout Echelon and Warhammer 40,000 Crusade campaigns.
Role & Scope

A
- Agenda: A narrative secondary objective selected before a battle. Completing Agendas awards bonus Experience Points (XP) or narrative campaign bonuses.
- Alliance: A faction group or coalition of players within a campaign (e.g., Imperium, Chaos, Xenos).
- Archived Unit: A Crusade Card that has been retired from active service. Archived units do not count toward your Supply Limit, but their history is preserved.
B
- Battle Honour: A reward earned when a unit ranks up (e.g. Battle Trait, Weapon Modification, Relic).
- Battle Scar: A permanent penalty applied to a unit that fails an Out of Action (Casualty) Test post-battle.
- Battle-ready: The starting Crusade Rank (0–5 XP) for all newly recruited units.
C
- Campaign Host: The player or Campaign Master (CM) who created the campaign and manages stages, settings, and player permissions.
- Casualty Test: A D6 test rolled post-battle for any unit marked Out of Action during a match. A roll of 1 indicates a failed test.
- Crusade Card: The digital record for an individual unit, tracking its name, kills, XP, rank, honours, scars, and equipment history.
E
- Enhancement: A special rule or wargear upgrade assigned to a Character unit from a specific Detachment.
J
- Join Code: A unique 6-character code (e.g.
WAR-40K) generated by a Campaign Host to allow players to join a campaign.
M
- Marked for Greatness: A post-battle reward where a player nominates one participating unit to receive +3 bonus XP.
- Muster: The process of selecting a subset of units from your master Order of Battle to form a battle list for a specific match size.
O
- Order of Battle: Your master Crusade Force Sheet containing all your registered Crusade Cards, total supply points, and Requisition balance.
- Out of Action: The status applied to a unit destroyed during a match.
R
- Rank Up: When a unit reaches a new XP threshold (Tested, Battle-hardened, Heroic, Legendary), unlocking a new Battle Honour.
- Requisition Points (RP): Currency used outside of battles to upgrade supply limits, buy enhancements, or heal scars. (Default cap: 5 RP).
S
- Stage: A narrative phase or chapter within a campaign, often with its own point limits and special rules.
- Supply Limit: The maximum total point value of all active Crusade Cards on your Order of Battle (Default: 1,000 pts).
W
- Warlord: The designated leader Character unit of an Order of Battle.
