Reminders and Notifications

None of this needs turning on, and none of it costs anything on any plan. Three places tell you a campaign is waiting on you, and they carry different things. Your Battle Station holds what is still outstanding right now. Notifications holds things that have already happened. Email reaches you when the app is closed, and has three switches of its own.

Your Battle Station

Dashboard in the menu opens My Battle Station, the first screen after you sign in. Two panels sit at the top of it, above your campaigns and your invites. Each one appears only when it has something to say, so a quiet week shows neither.

Waiting on you

Everything you owe, across every campaign you are in.

What it saysWhat it meansButton
A battle is waiting on your post-battle reportThe battle finished and reached its post-battle stage, and your report is the one still missingFile report
Your Crusade force has no units yetYou have joined a campaign but your Order of Battle is emptyAdd units
You have not marked yourself readyYour force has units, but you have not told the group you are setMark ready

The last two are one row per campaign, never both at once. An empty force comes first, because marking yourself ready with nothing to be ready with tells your Campaign Host nothing.

Each row names the campaign it came from and how long it has been sitting there.

Coming up

Scheduled battles, soonest first, with the date and who you are playing. A battle the host has not dated yet still appears, after the dated ones.

Fourteen days after its date has passed, a battle that never happened drops off the list. A campaign that quietly stopped should stop asking you for things.

Why a row will not go away

There is nothing to dismiss. Every row is worked out from the current state of your campaigns rather than stored as a message, so a row is on the page exactly while it is true, and gone the moment you deal with it.

That is deliberate. The problem being solved is forgetting, and a row you can clear is a row you can clear and then forget again.

Notifications

Open the menu and choose Notifications. The menu button carries a count of anything unread, so you can see there is something without opening it.

This is the record of things that happened, rather than things you owe.

What happenedWho hears about it
Someone invited you to a CrusadeYou
A player accepted an inviteEveryone already in the campaign
A battle was scheduledEveryone fielding an army in it
A battle finishedEveryone who fought it, with the result from your side
A chapter opened, or closedEveryone in the campaign
A mission was handed to youThe players it was given to
A post-battle report is outstandingThe player who owes it, and the host

A campaign invite can be accepted without leaving the panel. Ignore stands the row down if you are not taking it, which is not the same as answering it. To decline properly, use the Decline button beside that invite on your Dashboard.

Opening the panel marks what it shows you as read, so the count clears itself. Mark all read covers anything further down the list than the panel had room to show.

A chapter closes when the last battle in it finishes, so that notification arrives alongside the result that closed it.

Where your Battle Station tells you what you still owe, this tells you what changed. A notification about a battle scrolls away once you have read it. The report you still have not filed does not.

Email

Go to Settings > Email Notifications. There are three switches, kept apart so that turning one kind of email off never costs you another.

Send me campaign invites covers an invite to join someone's Crusade. If you only leave one of the three on, make it this one: it is the only message that reaches you before you are in a campaign at all.

Send me campaign activity emails covers the things inside a campaign that need something from you: a mission handed to you, a reminder when a post-battle report is waiting on you, a single nudge if a Crusade force you started is still empty, a new chapter opening, and, if you are the host, a player accepting an invite you sent.

Battles being scheduled or finished, and a chapter closing, are not on that list on purpose. You get them in the app, where the rest of the campaign is, and not in your mail. There is nothing to do about any of them, and a mailbox that fills up with things you cannot act on is a mailbox you start filtering, which is how the invite you actually wanted goes missing.

A chapter opening is on the list because it is the one that asks something of you. Battles you fight from there count towards the new chapter, so it is worth checking your Order of Battle and spending any Requisition Points you have been sitting on before the next game.

Send me product updates covers occasional news about new features in Echelon.

Two more never arrive by email whatever these are set to. A mission's reward is only ever shown in the app, because a host can keep it hidden until they judge your attempt. And anything that went against you, such as an invite being declined, is a notification and not a message: there is nothing to do about it, and it is not worth an email.

Notifications always appear in the app whatever the three switches are set to. They govern email only, so turning all three off means you will still see everything above the next time you open Echelon.
